Don’t call Kim Kardashian a lawyer just yet — unless you’re talking about her latest TV role in All’s Fair.
The 44-year-old reality star and entrepreneur took to Instagram on Saturday to share an honest update with her fans: she didn’t pass the California bar exam, which she took over the summer.
“Well… I’m not a lawyer yet. I just play a very well-dressed one on TV,” Kardashian wrote on her Instagram Stories. “Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up — just more studying and even more determination.”
Kim Kardashian’s Law Journey Continues
Kim also thanked her followers for their support and shared how close she came to success this time.
“Falling isn’t failure — it’s fuel,” she wrote. “I was so close to passing, and that only motivates me more.”

This marks the fourth time Kardashian has taken the California bar exam. She previously failed three times before successfully passing the “baby bar” in 2021 — a significant step required for her apprenticeship program.
Under California’s unique “law office study” path, aspiring lawyers can study under a licensed attorney instead of attending traditional law school. Kardashian’s passion for criminal justice reform inspired her to take this route, following the footsteps of her late father, Robert Kardashian, who was famously part of O.J. Simpson’s defense team.
Her Legal Goals Go Beyond the Exam
Despite the setback, Kim Kardashian remains committed to her mission. In a 2022 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she revealed her long-term goal:
“I want to finish law school and open a firm that hires formerly incarcerated people,” she said.
Her drive toward criminal justice reform has already led to several successful efforts to advocate for prison sentence reductions and criminal pardons. Kardashian’s work in this field has been widely praised, even among legal professionals who initially doubted her seriousness.
Balancing Law, Business, and Television
While pursuing her legal studies, Kardashian continues to expand her business empire and TV presence. She stars in All’s Fair, Ryan Murphy’s new legal drama on Hulu, where she plays a sharp, fashionable attorney alongside Glenn Close, Naomi Watts, Sarah Paulson, and Niecy Nash.
Although critics were divided — The Hollywood Reporter’s review called the show “stiff and affectless” — All’s Fair has become a massive streaming success, currently ranking No. 1 on Hulu.
Kardashian responded to the mixed reviews with humor, posting a carousel of memes and joking on Instagram:
“Have you tuned in to the most critically acclaimed show of the year!?!?!?”
Kim Kardashian: Determined to Pass and Inspire Others
Failing the bar exam hasn’t discouraged Kim Kardashian. Instead, it’s strengthened her determination to continue proving that success doesn’t always come on the first try.
Her honesty about failure and resilience sends an empowering message to her followers: even global icons must fight, fail, and try again.
“Six years in, and I’m still all in,” she wrote — a reminder that persistence often matters more than perfection.
